Irving, Texas, Jan. 28, 2016 – Bryson DeChambeau and Will Zalatoris have been awarded the first two sponsor’s exemptions for the 2016 AT&T Byron Nelson, which will be held May 16-22 at TPC Four Seasons Resort & Club Dallas at Las Colinas in Irving.
DeChambeau, from Clovis, Calif., is a former student at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. In 2015, he won both the U.S. Amateur and NCAA Division I championships, becoming only the fifth golfer in history to do so in the same year. DeChambeau also represented the United States on the Walker Cup team and is currently ranked #4 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
Zalatoris is a sophomore at Wake Forest University. He is from Plano, Texas and attended Trinity Christian Academy where he won the UIL TAPPS Individual Championship in 2012 and 2013. In 2014, he won the Texas State Amateur, the Trans Mississippi Championship and the USGA Junior Amateur Championship.
“Bryson and Will exemplify the kind of young golfers we look forward to seeing in our field each year,” said Tim Marron, 2016 tournament chairman. “Byron Nelson always emphasized the importance of identifying young talent and offering them opportunities to play, and we are proud to continue that legacy. We look forward to watching these two compete at this year’s tournament.”
